The three children had clustered in the corner, as far away from the massive wart-covered humanoid figure in its crude loincloth as they could get without leaving the room. There was more than fear alone involved, he knew. Merlin’s stones, he thought, I’d forgot just how awful a troll can smell. He pushed his boyhood memories aside, concentrating on the present. Hermione Granger and Harry Potter had their arms about each other. Ronald Weasley looked as if someone had shoved a pail of reeking fish scraps under his nose. Then again, it might have only been the troll.

Harry and Hermione go to church on Christmas Eve. Hermione encounters Aslan. She's not certain if she's having a religious experience or if it's only her subconscious talking, but what He says makes all the sense in the universe.
Meanwhile, Father Christmas rescues Luna from Malfoy Manor, collects Ginny from the Burrow, and takes them to Godric's Hollow to re-unite them with their friends. Fortunately for his sense of morality, Susan Bones' uncle (married to Millicent Bulstrode's cousin), the vicar of St. Godric's, is more than happy to say a quick wedding.
It seems there are more pleasurable ways of ending a Dark Lord's reign of terror than wandering the country over collecting Horcruces, and far better Weasleys to have as company in doing the job. -

In a September of 1992 that is far better than the canon one for everybody at Hogwarts (with the possible exception of Tom Riddle and Gilderoy Lockhart), Ginny Weasley, First Year, arranges a birthday party for Hermione Granger with the help of Luna Lovegood and Hermione's study group. A good time for all (even Ron) ensues.
Also, Household Suites are lovely, swimming costumes aren't nearly as strange as Ginny thought they were, and covens are far more than just mediaeval business co-operatives for witches.
