Fast as anything, Eren deflates. He closes his eyes and it’s like all of the tension has been sucked out of the room, like Armin got his hearing back without ever realizing it’s been gone. He can suddenly hear the distant beeping and dripping in the clinic again.
“It’s easy to forget, you know. That not everyone is.”
“I will never be your enemy,” Armin says, quiet, as he finishes patching Eren up. “Not ever. Not even if everyone else is.”

Riven scratches his cheek, “You know, I’m not really sure what to say.”
“You say, ‘Musa, you’re a really cool girl, but sadly I am not interested,’” Musa says. “And then we can be friends.”
Riven’s fingers loosely clutch her wrist, standing almost as close to her as he did on that Halloween night. Looking her directly in the eye, he says, “I’m not not interested.”
Her breath hitches.
