Summary
This is a mistake almost everyone makes when it comes to Saburo: not being on guard around him. Jiro supposes it’s useful in battle because underestimating an enemy never, ever works out in any situation, and Jiro will forgive someone for looking down on his little brother if only because it means they learn not to do it again— but Jiro never learns, does he?
Jiro isn’t exactly the brightest, at least not in comparison to Saburo—though to be fair and in his defense, just about anyone would pale in comparison to new-star-in-the-sky-with-the-brightest-shine Saburo— but Jiro would be damned if he hasn’t learned from having the (dis)pleasure of being with Saburo all this time, that Saburo is almost always up to no good when he isn’t busy sucking up to Ichi-nii or working towards being able to. Jiro considers himself lucky when Saburo’s interested enough in a subject outside his grade’s curriculum to pursue on his computer like a smartass, or if he’s able to find a new game that doesn’t make him yawn, because then Saburo wouldn’t make an enemy out of Jiro out of nowhere and start plotting his demise to curb his twisted need for entertainment, out of sheer boredom.
