Summary
The heat wave had hit harder than even Bruce had expected.
He had made many public statements, warnings about possible power outages as well as reminding everyone not to leave any children unintended at any time, especially not in cars, but as the mercury kept stubbornly rising and showing no sign of lowering any time soon Bruce felt a nervous energy rise within him too.
While Wayne Manor had its own backup energy sources, there was only so many vulnerable people they could take into its walls. Alfred was working hard to distribute water within the Manor while Bruce was out on the streets as Bruce Wayne alongside Tim Drake distributing more water and food.
As the third day of the heat wave, one of the highest in recorded history, people were getting wary of staying put. At least the increased heat made for less criminals out there committing crime but Bruce knew that the heat could just as well cause a rise in violence.

More than the blood itself, that’s what scares him: the fact he can’t remember. There isn’t much in this world that Bruce can’t remember, and he doesn’t know what that means in this situation. He doesn’t know why he’s bloody, or why he’s waking up somewhere he hadn’t been just a moment ago.
Gotham protects what's hers. But that always comes with a price, and being chosen isn't the gift she wants you to believe it is. Bruce Wayne thinks he knows this, but still he takes up the mantle, the calling, given to him.

No answer, hasn’t said a word since Alfred picked him up from the bloody alley and carried him into the manor. His hands were covered in so much blood, his eyes dull and grey as Alfred gently washed away the blood and dirt from the shaking little boy…but he knew, he knew he couldn’t wash away the memory, the pain, the tears.

There was a kitten in Gotham Zoo’s tiger exhibit.
This had been one of the news the Gotham Gazette had delivered this morning. A stray kitten had entered the tigers’ enclosure late at night and tried to steal some food, only to be caught by one of the big cats. However, in an interesting turn of events, the larger predator had taken in the little thing, and they were now inseparable.
