Donnie’s not great at the whole tone thing most times, but even he can see that there are two widely different emotions going on at this exact moment, especially the wild look in Raph’s eyes and the stupid, smug smirk on Leo’s face. The kind that usually gets more than one of them into trouble at the most inopportune times.
Mikey shakes the back of Leo’s shell. “We’re gonna be internet famous, baby!”

Dream is still there, still a threat, still banishing his sword, but the threat of swords crumble in the threat of obsidian wings. And the threat of obsidian wings crumbles in the threat of another sword being unsheathed and a gait too heavy to be any of the people from L’Manburg that come from behind Tubbo.
“He is not the only one,” a voice rumbles from behind—deep, echoing, and terrifying. “He’s just the flashiest.”

He puts the letter, unopened, on his desk and resolves not to think about it.

“I—no?” Peter says. His voice is startlingly high pitched and his expression is nothing short of horrified.

“I just—” he hiccups down his ghost sense but feels the cool burning sensation crawl up his throat anyways. He has just enough time to throw a hand over his mouth to cover the blue mist, and sends a desperate look at the clock. There’s still five minutes left in class. He stands up anyways. “I have to go.”
“You have to go?” Sam says. Danny hears the accusation in her voice loud and clear. “Again?”
“I’m sorry.”
“Sorry isn’t enough, Danny! You keep—you keep leaving us! You’re pushing us away!”
His tongue feels like lead and he knows, even if he wants to, he can’t tell them. He can't. So instead, he doesn’t meet her eyes, takes one step back, and repeats, “I’m sorry.”
Sometimes, it feels like it’s the only word he can say these days.
Or: When Danny goes down to the lab and enters that portal at fourteen years old, he goes down alone. This changes things.

There should have been nothing remarkable about two people in a busy cafeteria, but Becket takes in the familiar sight of curly hair, brown eyes, and a t-shirt with a science pun on it talking animatedly alongside Actual Anthony Edward Stark and promptly drops his lunch.
He gapes for a solid second, seeing but not believing. It definitely doesn’t look like Mr. Stark is forcing the kid to leave, or firing him, or escorting him to security given the relaxed smiles on both of their faces. If anything, Becket thinks Mr. Stark looks rather proud.
“So, uh, Mr. Stark definitely knows Roomba-Kid,” Becket says and discreetly tilts his head in the direction of the pair.
“Oh my god,” Jess says. She almost sounds gleeful. “Oh my god, he’s not just some random kid. He’s Mr. Stark’s kid.”

“Fuck you,” Izuku spits, voice low. He pours all of his anger into the words, his fear for his friend. He’s shaking violently as all his classmates turn to look at him in shock. One For All is right underneath his skin, rattling and almost begging to come out.
Endeavor stops before slowly turning. “Excuse me?”
Izuku doesn’t use his quirk—doesn’t want to. Even with it screaming to be called upon and rattling through his body, he doesn’t let it win. Using One For All against a person like Endeavor (a hero, as much as Izuku loathes to admit it) would be a disgrace to him and all the users before him. All Might entrusted that power to him to use to protect people, to save people when all else fails. Here, he doesn’t have to use it. He stands strong with his own power and his own emotions.
He’s not Deku right now—he’s Midoriya Izuku.
“I said fuck you,” Izuku repeats, slower this time. Spelling out each word so he knows Endeavor hears every syllable. “Get out of our dorm.”
