This story was inspired by the thought of Prince William of Wales (and indeed the current Max von Hapsburg) studying at the University of St Andrews; it is also, as the title suggests, at least a little inspired by the operetta 'The Student Prince'.

::2019 note: This story was written BEFORE the TV show introduced the character of Gwaine. It's not that I can't spell, or that I'm perversely writing him out of character - I incorporated other characters from Arthurian legend (Kay, Gawain etc) into my story, and lacking prophetic abilities, my versions naturally don't mesh with the versions subsequently introduced into the show.::

Summary
Merlin moves back to his tiny Welsh Village when his uncle retires from his vet clinic to live somewhere warm and tropical. This moves leads to many surprising things, but none more surprising than a spaceship crash landing in the field behind Merlin's house. Now he and Arthur have to struggle to keep Arthur's identity a secret as they try to find a way to get Arthur home. It won't be easy, especially with a sketchy detective with far too much interest in Arthur hanging around.

Summary
Merlin flees his hometown for the big city and crashes with Gwen, his friend from university. As he settles in, he meets Gwen's new girlfriend Morgana, gets on the wrong foot with Morgana's ass of a brother, and finally tries to become a functioning adult.
Only, the bad dreams he's been having are getting worse, and the voice he keeps hearing in his head is getting louder...More than that, it seems like his new roommate may not just be the depressed, rich pretty boy he first appears to be. That there is something that lies beneath the surface of the city and the fragile understanding Merlin has of himself, his world, and the people around him.
Maybe one person in particular.
Lots of knight content, Merlin is a bit of a traumatized bitch, destiny is bullshit etc.
