But the dragon, out of nowhere, removed his fingers from my hair. My instinctive reaction was to open my eyes and stare at him, only to find him already gazing down at me; his lips slightly parted; ruby eyes fixed on my face, unblinking; a subtle blush on his ears and cheeks. I was then mesmerized by his look, unable to avert my gaze. The same feeling of admiration when I'd catch him humming quietly took over me, imprisoning me in a cage I had built myself. My heartbeat skipped, and I swallowed dryly, in an attempt to understand what was happening. I couldn't let myself lose control. Not when I didn't even know the reason behind it.
