"What about me, then? I'm still here! Am I not enough to bring you back?" Jiang Cheng demands, stepping towards Wei Wuxian, catching him by the collar.
Wei Wuxian stares at him, the proximity forcing him to look down ever so slightly to meet Jiang Cheng's eyes. His eyes seem to gleam like rubies, and Jiang Cheng watches as clarity - impure, scheming clarity - dawns on his face.
"S-say something!" Jiang Cheng says, releasing him roughly and pushing him against the wall, skin prickling under Wei Wuxian's gaze.
Wei Wuxian steps closer, perfectly still. Jiang Cheng clenches his fists by his side, shaking.
"You asked me what I want," Wei Wuxian starts, voice soft and steady. It scares the shit out of Jiang Cheng. "In exchange for my core… there is something you can give me."

"I don't want to flirt with anyone else, Wei Wuxian!" Jiang Cheng erupts. "I don't - I don't care about anyone else at those parties, except maybe Nie Huaisang! And she has other friends to tend to, I can't cling to her the entire time. Why don't you get it? I come to the parties because you ask me to. Because I want to spend them with you!"
Wei Wuxian's jaw drops, and it's dead silent. Jiang Cheng feels her face heat with embarrassment from the outburst.
"Just… go. Please just fucking go, Wei Wuxian," Jiang Cheng grits out, when Wei Wuxian says nothing. She tries pushing her friend back out the door, but instead, Wei Wuxian steps forward, firmly closing the door behind her, gaze piercing into Jiang Cheng.
"Jiang Cheng, are you… jealous?"
