Mike wasn't stupid. For some reason, after all Mike had put him through, Will still cared for him. Mike truly had no idea why, but he did.
So, the solution Mike developed was to remove himself. Stop spending time with everyone, and use that time to spend at his house by himself. That way, he was gone before he even truly left. Hence, nobody really cares when he inevitably meets his unfortunate fate.

Amy grips tighter, her skin starting to itch. She lifts her shirt up and looks down to see a faint line crossing diagonally above her pelvis. She delicately runs her fingers over it, examining it carefully. Charles looks over and gasps excitedly, pulling Amy out of her head, looking up at Charles.
“What?” Amy asks, a smile fortaking Charle’s entire demeanor.
“A scar!! From your soulmate! You know - in all the years I’ve worked with you, you’ve never brought anything up about it” Charles says, taking a wide turn causing Amy to wince once again. Amy wills for this ride to be over, not remembering the hospital being this far away from them. Maybe it is a short ride. Maybe she’s just too delusional from the pain to depict time. Amy touches the scar that’s starting to appear absentmindedly.or: Amy and Jake AU where you get the same scars as your soulmate. Few random cuts, but then in High school Amy starts having scars she really rather not see pop up. It eventually stops. Jump years later, Jake gets hurt on a mission and comes out with a nasty scar and Amy goes to see him at the hospital. Pieces get put together.
