He reached up with trembling hands to straighten out the lapels of Buck’s black and white suit while the younger man quietly fixed his cuffs links. They were close enough that Gale’s cologne was making his head spin.
“If things were different,” He swallowed hard and his mouth went dry with dread, but he had to ask. He had to know. “If there was a place where-where it didn't matter…”
He felt the blissful ignorance of the silence between them shatter like glass at his words. Buck froze in his movements. John’s grip on the front of his suit tightened. He didn’t let go when Gale tried to take a step back. He couldn’t just yet. He could feel Buck’s heart pounding through his pressed dress shirt and he closed his eyes to focus on the strong, now unsteady beats.
“Would you be with me?"
"That place doesn't exist, John.”

Summary
Through the smoke, and the noise, and the grief, there’s Bucky.
There’s blood all down the right side of his face, but his eyes are bright, and when he sees Gale his smile is even brighter.
There are so many things he wants to say, so many things he wants to do, but there’s a crowd, and Gale doesn’t think he can find the right words anyway. Not here, not now. What he settles on is eloquent, and he hopes it portrays all of the feeling he puts behind it:
“What took you so long?”
Bucky’s grin widens. He shrugs his shoulders up to his ears and gestures back towards the poor excuse of a plane.
“We took a detour,” he says simply.

Dean never figured the cage wouldn’t leave a mark. He was prepared for memories, flashbacks, and nightmares. He wasn’t expecting the words Sam brought back with him or the way they made him seem just a breath beyond Dean’s reach.

Summary
Sam and Adam are pulled from the cage at the same time. Sam is not right, and Adam, stuck as his caretaker, is not pleased Basically, Adam really, really doesn't want to care and holds onto his resentment for dear life, but Sam is all psychotic and hopeless so it's kind of hard. Cue grudging compassion and Adam dragging Sam around the country, hitchhiking with truckers and stuff while trying to keep Sam's lunacy on the down-low, in search of anyone else who wants to take him, anyone at all. When he finally gets his chance to be rid of Sam for good and for keeps, he barely has one foot out the door before he notices Dean/Bobby/the psychiatric nurse/whoever trying to calm Sam down and doing it all wrong.
