Summary
“Where is she?!”
Mark roars after slowly pulling himself back up to his feet. His hand shakes as he keeps it outstretched in front of him, threatening everyone in the room with his found weapon. He’s about to ask them again when a wave of pain scorches through his head from his crown to behind his eyes. There’s more than one woman he’s asking for here.
“Helly!”
Mark's voice spills out in a strangled yelp, because if she’s close, then surely she’ll hear him. Hadn’t she gone into the procedure room just a door over? Mark turns his head to shout against the wall, willing his voice to transcend the barrier.
“Helly!”
Silence. God, how it made her want to-
The violent instincts bubbled up like blood from a bullet wound, leaking from the once missing holes in her brain. They were graphic, and red, and so utterly against protocol- Stop. A thrown speaker. Broken glass. The paper cutter. She wasn’t a stranger to harming and being harmed, so why did it feel so wrong? She wanted to throw things. Summary
“Helly, I don’t know if you saw it… or if you know, but you have a hickey on your neck.”
Mark tells her, voice hushed when he says the word he’s never said before. He’s never had to.
It’s more than likely she doesn’t know she has it. Mark feels bad. But he wants to be honest with her.
“A what?”
Helly asked curiously, her hand flying up to her neck. Her fingers pressed against what felt like a bruise again, but she couldn’t see it try as she might. Her gaze hardened with determination as she blew a strand of fiery hair out of her face and turned on her heels.
“Why is this place allergic to reflections?”
