Summary
Adriana doesn’t tell their parents that she’s going to LA. She doesn’t tell Eddie, either—or ask, for that matter.
She does ask Chris, and he thinks it’s a good idea—says as much, on the phone, and doesn’t say much else.
“Buck will probably be hovering,” is what Chris does volunteer.
It still surprises her when the man who opens the door is not Eddie. It’s—Captain America, is the thing that actually comes to mind—a man close to a foot taller than she is, if not more than that, with blond curls and broad shoulders, and he’s got a question in his very blue eyes that’s probably less friendly than the one he actually asks her.
“Uh,” he says. “Can I help you?”

Summary
Eddie's new apartment is small. The walls are too bright, the furniture too new. He misses his couch. He made up the one bedroom with Chris’s stuff, so Eddie’s own bed is the new couch he mechanically turns into his bed every night. He’s got a bedroom with no walls and in the middle of the night, as he stares up at the stark white ceiling, he considers painting it black so he doesn’t notice if his eyes are open. It feels oddly like staring up at the lid of his coffin.

Eddie moves to Texas and pretends he's fine until he can't anymore. Inevitably, Buck follows.

Summary
Buck remembers how proud he was about all of his software updates. 2.0, 3.0. Maybe if he shed 100 skins and improved himself enough, 3.0 to infinity, someone could take a look at him and find something worth keeping. Because that’s what he kept telling himself: nobody is ever gonna want you enough to keep you.
But Eddie had kept him. He’s keeping him, still, he just has to go.
Eddie is moving to Texas. Buck finally figures out what he wants.

It is becoming easier, almost, to adjust to the new way of life. He has switched to using his left hand to cast the spell, and the effects are creeping further and further up his left arm with each passing day, even if they vanish by the next morning.
But that is an understandable price to pay. A reasonable price, if it keeps everyone else safe. It doesn’t matter, really, if he has started to find more and more lacerations from stray waves of shadow each morning as he lies in his untouched bed. It doesn’t matter that the pupils of his eyes, when he gazes into the reflective glass of the captain’s desk, are starting to disappear entirely. Nor that he will sometimes start at the faint feeling of fingers threading around his neck, tracing the line of his cheek.
“Praesidio. Praesidio, fortier defendebant, defendebant splendide...”
The Rocks family is safe. Any price is worth that.

All of these are as canon-compliant as I can make them and (almost) all are directly expanding on scenes or mentions from the book that inspired them – basically, I’m filling in the gaps with Dean/Seamus because I can.

Even though Sam built that damn bookcase Bucky's still got a habit of leaving his books lying around in piles, Virginia Woolf and Murakami and the shitty scifi pulps he still loves all in stacks together, glasses abandoned on top of them. The cats are sprawled out sleepy over an afghan Nat knitted - the only afghan Nat ever knitted, because she picks up skills and drops them depending on who she's being that month - and Sam's Arabic homework is strewn across the coffee table, a coffee mug set down on top of it. Oh. Oh jesus. It's not Bucky that Steve wants, it’s not even just them, it's this, all of this, and how could he not. What they've built, it's goddamn gorgeous.
You can, he thinks, you could, we’d give you this if you let us, and he doesn’t know how to say it. Doesn’t know what Steve would do if he did.
