Because Stiles had reminded his dad—multiple times—to book the damn flight before prices went up, but Sheriff Stilinski forgot, and now Stiles is trapped in Derek Hale’s self-modified, apocalypse-ready Toyota FJ Cruiser for a twelve-hour drive home in a snowstorm with nothing but mutual hatred and unresolved teenage grudges for company. What starts as a petty road trip filled with aggressive silence, judgmental snack commentary, territorial road navigation, and one deeply inconvenient bathroom emergency slowly tightens into something unbearably tense, something electric. It's the kind of disaster that feels inevitable, the kind where you know things are going to go wrong.
And oh—they go very, very wrong.

Whenever they touch the water they grow two foot long blue scaly tails. Louis wants nothing more than to share this with his wicked smart friend Harry, who he's sure could help them figure out what the hell happened on the island, but Liam and Zayn have sworn him to secrecy.
There, emerging from the bubbles, was a tail. A dark blue, scaled, almost two foot long tail. Louis blinked. He tried to wiggle his toes. The end of the fin flapped slightly. He closed his eyes again, and took three deep breaths. He was clearly hallucinating.
