Grian opens his eyes.
Mumbo's pain free, very much alive eyes lock with his own.
"Hi." Mumbo says in a quite voice, his arms wrapped around his fiance.
"Hi." Grian repeats, squeezing Mumbo with the arms he has around the ravenett.
"We need to get up mate." Mumbo chuckles, pulling a hand from around Grian, and brushing a dirty blond lock of hair from the avian's face.
Grian wines, he does not want to let Mumbo go.
or, Mumbo keeps dying, and Grian keeps restarting the day to try and save Mumbo, but keeps failing.

Zed sucks in a pained breath as the electric shears he was using nick his skin below his wool, causing him to bleed.
The sheep hybrid turns off the clippers, grabbing the towel next to him, drying up the blood.
He grabs the small jar of styptic powder he keeps just for this, dabbing some of the yellow powder on the cut, putting pressure on it to stop the bleeding so he can get back to attempting to shear the wool off his legs.
Zed hates that he has to do this, frustrated tears slowly slide down his face.
Sometimes he wishes he was not a sheep hybrid, feeling envious of his friend who doesn't have wool.
The sheep hybrid sits on his bathroom floor, wool and wool shears on the tiled floor.
He is about to pick up the shears again when he hears the doorbell ring.
Zed sits there, terrified someone will find him.
He hates having to shear his wool and would hate someone to see him doing it.
But the sister fates must hate him because he hears a voice call out into his base, “Zed!” the voice calls, “It’s Tango, where are you at man?”
Or, Zed is having a hard time shearing his wool so Tango helps him

Tango is a blaze/avian hybrid.
His mother was a blaze hybrid and his father an avian.
When Tango was born, people assumed he was just a blaze hybrid.
His wings never came in, no feathers appeared/grew anywhere on his body to speak of, he just had his father’s bird like instincts (smushed together with his mom’s of course) and vocalizations.
Tango is what is called a false hybrid [an hybrid who does not have physical attributes of their hybrid nature, instead only having the internal attributes (instincts and sometimes vocalizations)].
He also decided not to tell anyone this information, not because he did not trust them or something.
Far from it.
He never told anyone because he thought it was not that important to tell.

Summary
Grian is a grown adult hermit with a stable adult life and mature adult thoughts. That's why it's more than a little embarrassing when he starts coughing up flowers every time he thinks of his best friend Scar. Everybody knows that Hanahaki disease is a teenage thing, right up there with acne, voice crackles and growth spurts. Fixing it is as easy (or as difficult) as resolving your feelings for your crush, but that usually requires actually talking to that person. Grian is bound and determined to do things the hard way.
(Or, the Hanahaki fic where nobody coughs blood, nobody dies, nobody is compelled to love anybody else, and Grian gets teased by all his friends about his crush.)

This would probably go unsaid, but he secretly found it hilarious how dumbfounded Mumbo was the first time he came over to the planning grounds of his first mega base. The general area was piled with chests in the build’s early stages, but he never had a major problem with the clutter. It was kind of like a party trick, the way he’d reach for a specific item in a seemingly random chest and it out without fail every time. For those who were unaware of his background, it was pretty much one anyway.
Unfortunately for Grian, he’d just spent an hour looking for the redstone he swore he’d just put aside.
Or: Grian walks out of the mines with a little more than what he bargained for.
