Summary
Eddie huffs and throws his hands out. “I don’t know what you want from me, Buck. Do you want me to say I hate it? ’Cause I don’t!”
“I want you to tell me the truth.”
“I am telling you the truth! I’m sorry it’s not apparently whatever it is you want to hear, but I can’t actually read your mind, and I don’t know what it is you want me to say. I like the house. I liked the party. I don’t like being treated like a damn stranger.”
Eddie sees the moment Buck’s restraint finally snaps. “Then stop making yourself one!”
Or
Buck hosts a housewarming party, everyone keeps asking Eddie what he thinks of the new place, and he can't figure out why it feels like lying when he says he likes it.

Summary
“I’ll do it,” Eddie repeats, looking at Buck in one of those silent conversation ways again, but Buck actually can’t figure out what he’s trying to say this time. It messes with his brain, until Eddie speaks again, “I’ll pretend to only be a little offended none of you have thought to ask me before, but Buck, I’ve fixed a lot of cars. I can look at yours.”
(or, the check engine light comes on in Buck's Jeep, Eddie volunteers to fix it and carpool with him in the meantime, and it all breaks down from there, literally and metaphorically)

Summary
“A week,” Eddie sighed. “We can do this, right?”
Eddie’s gaze was pleading, needing assurance and comfort. His eyebrows were pinched in the middle of his forehead and Buck wanted to reach out and smooth it out with his thumb. Instead, he said, “’Course we can. We’ve faced tsunamis, beenados, earthquakes, broken dams… hey, where do we think the Diaz Parents Staying For A Week ranks?”
“Most likely to end in death,” Eddie muttered.
Buck clicked his tongue as he pulled the bowls from the cabinet for the salad, “That’s the lightning strike, actually.”
or
The Diaz parents showing up unexpectedly to the shared Buckley-Diaz household leads to some unexpected confrontations, late night conversations, and over due confessions.

Summary
Eddie loads the metaphorical gun, cocks it. “I would’ve found my way to you. That I'm even more sure of.”
Buck is burning. That’s the only way he can describe this. Eddie says something like that, and then Buck will end the call, and he’ll crawl into Eddie’s bed in Eddie’s house and stare at the patches in Eddie’s bedroom wall that he helped Eddie patch up, and he’ll pretend like this isn’t going to kill him. He’s entirely convinced he’s going to die before Eddie ever crosses the California state line again.
He digs his own grave. “You sound confident for a guy who doesn’t believe in fate.”
“Nah, it’s not fate. It’s us and pure determination.”
