They both try to take care of each other the best they can, bringing them closer.

Summary
Dog days are the hottest periods of the year, when the sun shines brighter and the weather feels too humid. Days like these often cause for people to lack motivation to participate on any sort of activities.
This leads us to the second meaning of dog days: these days can also mean inactivity or laziness; lack of action, and/or motivation to act.
It had been a hot day when Ryuji lost everything. The sun burning his skin as everything in his life fell apart right before his eyes.
Then, he began with sluggishness the day where he met the one who gave meaning to everything again. How funny, how he had thought of staying in bed that morning, not realizing how the events of this day would mark a difference in his life.
The end came to him on dog days, but so did the beginning.

Summary
Something goes wrong. The crown is split during Narinder's defeat, splitting the power between him and the Lamb.
Narinder keeps a portion of his godhood, and the Lamb finds that abilities they had access to before are no longer possible: Healing is cut short. Powers are halved. And there is a very real chance of perma-death, as the ability to resurrect is not possible without full power, and the God of Death is not cooperative.
Afterlife and Purgatory are not options either. Dying means erasure. Gone.Lambert knows Narinder grows stronger by the day, crown or not, and yet keeps him spared as they try to figure out how to complete their own goals. Narinder vows vengeance on the lamb for usurping him. After a few unsuccessful murder attempts, he's in for the long haul. It is only a matter of time before the Lamb's guard is down before he can strike, and The One Who Waits is very patient. When a mystic being demands they save the bishops from purgatory, an alliance is in order.
Except...the lamb's actions and their presence begin to unlock abilities within the God of Death he didn't know he had prior to his imprisonment, among other fickle things, like emotions. The prophecy didn't warn him of that part.

“What do you think you’d be doin’, if you weren’t a Hero?” Warriors asks him, laying the question out before him and the stars and the fire that crackles.
[...]
“I don’t know,” he blurts, unhelpfully. It’s a lame answer to a loaded question, but he can’t find it in him to even say the word travel; it leaves something bitter at the back of his tongue, something heavy in his gut. Some part of him worries, immensely, about what that means.
The question goes unanswered, really, even in his head. And it haunts him for months.

Summary
Understanding the language of Legend is an art, not a science; it’s made up of contradictions and careful redirection, hidden behind bitter scowls and year-old layered walls. There are no rules to it, unlike any other dialect, and grasping the meanings of such subtle changes in posture and attitude is a process. A long one at that.
But it’s a language that so obviously wants to be learned, even if it acts the opposite. So it’s a good thing Warriors has extra time on his hands.

“Seriously?!” Wind shrieks as he glares at the cobble stones that have stolen both his face and brother. “You wanna go, bridge? You wanna go!?”
(Or the one where the Chain is able to reunite with the brother that got taken away for another quest only for said brother to get eaten by a bridge out of nowhere.)

“Come on, where’s your sense of adventure, Sailor?” The captain asks, reaching out to ruffle Wind’s hair and looking unfazed when his hand is slapped away by the grumpy teen.
“Back where I left the last fucks I had to give: at the bottom of the river we were spat out days ago.” Wind replies, ignoring Sky’s exasperated ‘Wind’ along with Time’s own warning glare.
“Same,” Legend says dryly from the side.
Wind jumps at the validation. “See!!”
(Or the one where the chain ends up in a new Hyrule and, while they're yet to find the last Link to their chain, they keep meeting up with a hylian named Champ in the oddest ways. All of them except for Twilight. Spoilder alert: all of them need to learn how to ask the right questions.)
