“Be sure not to want too much.”
It’s already much too late for that, Kabru thinks, and says nothing at all.

Summary
“Math?” And a published academic journal, at that?
“Yes.” Ratio returns the book to his bag, carrying on, but Aventurine’s stuck on the fact that this is apparently what he does in his free time outside of composing music.
“…I thought you were a pianist.”
“I am a pianist.”
“But– math?” Even Aventurine doesn’t spend that much time thinking about math, and he spends twelve hours a day staring at financial models.
“Does it not occur to you that it's possible to have more than one interest?”
Aventurine lives the same week on repeat: eighty hours of his soul-sucking high finance job, then two nights of dancing off the stress to the beat of his favorite anonymous DJ. His move into a luxury apartment building brings him next door to Ratio, an esteemed classical composer with a love for piano. Eager to make a good impression, Aventurine keeps his clubbing habit under wraps — but he’s not the only one hiding secrets under strobe lights.

Bookmarker's Notes
Characters with depth and interesting direction, great writing and characterization.
“ “Those who don’t fit into a societal expectation of behavior often gravitate to the arts, but there are standards to uphold even among creatives. The desire to partake in an identity less constrained by traditional rules and structure is one I understand. My demeanor doesn’t lend itself well to establishing interpersonal relationships. I see no purpose in changing the way I act to placate others, but it was… unnerving, when I was younger. How the intensity of my attachment to music seemed to alienate those around me.”
He pauses for a breath. “You were very persistent in attempting to make conversation with me. It came as a surprise. Most others wouldn’t have done so.”
Ratio says that like it speaks to Aventurine’s character, but it couldn’t be further from the truth.
There’s nothing wrong with the air in the car, but he can barely breathe. “Don’t give me so much credit for that. I did it for shallow reasons.”
Ratio shakes his head. “Shallow or not, I appreciated it. And your presence here speaks for itself.” “

Bookmarker's Notes
Super well written, very evocative, characters with depth
“ Then Caelus laughed. The sound hit Dan Heng like a current, sharp and warm, impossible to escape. It wasn’t just a laugh—it wrapped around his chest, tangled in his ribs, lingering long after it faded. Light, playful, achingly honest, it threaded through every thought he had ever had of Caelus, binding memory and desire in a single, impossible instant.
Dan Heng froze, breath caught, eyes wide, as if seeing him for the first time all over again. The echo of that laughter clung, teasing, coaxing, unrelenting, stirring a strange ache behind his ribs—a longing he didn’t yet understand, a sweetness that thrilled and unnerved him.”

Summary
Not many people outside of the royal family know the secret of the royal baths, cloistered away in a hidden part of the Citadel. Ignis is an exception. After rough training sessions, he enjoys spending time alone in the chamber’s heated pool to unwind and let the warm water soothe his sore muscles.
It’s a nice routine. Until Noctis walks in one day with the same idea.

Summary
It began with the gifts.
Ratio was aware this was a tactic Aventurine employed with all his professional relationships. On his rare visits to Pier Point, Ratio had occasionally caught sight of Aventurine delivering wrapped packages from desk to desk. When they had begun to work together, he had received some expensive, trendy knick knacks himself that he had been all too happy to misplace.
From then on, he noticed Aventurine’s habit more often: the way he’d take the time to gather up those gifts on long shopping trips, as well as his preference for opening negotiations with a few lavish presents in a show of both goodwill and power.
And he noticed the way that his occasional, persistent gifts to Ratio increased in specificity.
Aventurine is clearly infatuated with him. Naturally, Ratio has a duty to nip this nonsense in the bud.
Unsurprisingly, Ratio has the hots for him. For the Doctor’s sake, Aventurine will have to shut him down.
