“You need to sleep,” Frank said softly.
“I know,” Gerard mumbled into the pillow. His voice was scratchy and low. He took hold of Frank's hands where they were laid on his stomach and gripped them tightly, as if he was trying to anchor himself to the world through Frank.
A few moments later, his eyes slipped closed, and his grip on Frank's hand relaxed, but Frank left his hands where they were.

Summary
After a bitter divorce, you move back to the city you grew up in and get an apartment. In the beginning, the only friend you really have is your cat. Despite all your best efforts to the contrary, you befriend (and fall in love with) the doorman in your apartment, and he introduces you to the people you end up calling family.
Somewhere in your new life, there is a nightmare in the shape of strange notes, vague threats, and phone calls in the middle of the night. Can your beloved keep you safe, or is happily ever after destined to be cut short?

Robert’s dancing (begrudgingly) with an old superhero friend of his to avoid making a scene had he turned him down. The stares from around the ballroom, the camera flashes from nearby reporters, said superhero’s hands a bit too close to his waist all irritate him to no end.
Meanwhile, Flambae’s watching from the edge of the room, flames curling around his knuckles.
Prism whispers, “You plannin' to torch the next guy who asks him to dance?”
“Depends on who he dances with next,” he growls.
Robert catches his eye across the floor—and with a pleading look—mouths, 'Behave.'He doesn’t.
