Admittedly, Torse is still on shaky ground when it comes to understanding Gathie biology. What if Marya’s comment points to a more serious issue? He’s starting to get slightly concerned for Maxwell’s wellbeing.

“I can quite literally hear you thinking,” Maxwell murmurs as he works, barely audible. He’s currently elbow deep in Torse’s rib cage, helping to repair him. Torse could do it himself, but Maxwell insisted. And, it is nice not having to find a reflective surface to see what requires fixing.
“Can you?” Torse asks. He’s so used to inhabiting this body that its various sounds — the ejections, and gear clicks, and the whirring of motors — have all become background noise. “What does it sound like?”
Maxwell does a double take, not quite wanting to take his eyes off of what he was working on. Though, by looking into Torse’s visual strip, he isn’t really. All of it is Torse. “Well…” Maxwell pauses, both in speech and his repairs. “It’s not unlike the sound of pressing keys on a typewriter."Bookmarked by freefall
