MJ scoffs, needing a second to forcibly stop staring at the exact spot that Gayle was teasing her about. “It’s not a thing. I’m only here for a few weeks. Why would it be a thing?”
“Nothing is going to happen.” MJ assures her, picking up the plate again and cleaning it with more force than necessary. It sounds like a lie to even her own ears, only made worse by how heat rises to her cheeks when she hears movement against the thin wall on the other side of the apartment.
