“Hi, doll.”
Ice pours into Maddie’s veins. She jerks her head in the direction of the voice, praying she’s just hallucinating after a long shift –
She’s not hallucinating. There, standing beside the dining room table, is the one person she hoped she’d never have to see again.
“Doug,” she rasps.
And then she takes in the rest of the scene.
Buck is sitting in a chair at Doug’s side. Duct tape is plastered over his mouth, his cheeks bulging in a way that means he must have something stuffed inside his mouth to further silence him, and his arms are pulled behind him and around the back of the chair, so he’s obviously restrained somehow. His eyes are wide and panicked, but he hasn’t moved an inch – probably because of the gun pressed against his temple.

At first, Dongsik’s light burnt him, the way it made him sweat and red hot in anger in the middle of dark, reed field. The way it made him feel exposed in naked light, and yet seen for the first time in his life. But now he realized it was because he had been cold all his life.

“No, hear me out,” Juwon whines and smacks his back playfully. He is about to retort smartly when Juwon beats him to it.
“Once upon a time, there is a girl, thinking she knows enough about the world to save it on her own. Without once thinking she might be wrong, she tears her way down to the bears' home – she uses their bed, she eats their food, and she mocks the way they live, laying only waste to the first place that opens their door to her,”
Dongsik doesn’t like where this is going.
“She’s a cheeky idiot for sure, but I’m sure she has a good intention,”
Lips curling into an amused smile, Juwon continues.
Or: Under the moonlight, one seeming normal conversation with Juwon about fairy tales and their past leads to a path that Dongsik never expects, one that would define their future - marriage.

Summary
Missing scene from episode 15. Where Dongsik gets Juwon out of the rain and inside his home with the intention to talk.
The rain drowned everything out, even his shaking, uneven breaths. It was so cold on Juwon's cheeks, so warm where it dripped from his eyes. Fire over ice, Dongsik holding his gaze, then pulling him up with a sigh that sounded like surrender. Sympathy Juwon did not know how to handle written all over his face, in the curl of his lips. Smiling, even now.
Or - Juwon has his first full breakdown after hearing his father's confession and Dongsik, an experienced breakdown-haver is right there and tries to guide him through it only to get caught up when the tension between them reaches a breaking point too. Angst and smut ensue.

Summary
Dongsik leans his head back on the old cabinet behind him and holds back a groan. Juwon really hasn’t changed at all. It is still frustrating to talk to him. “I’m just curious, that's all.” The older man shrugs, pretending as if his question did not arise from a place of doubt. “You could be somewhere in Seoul right now living with a beautiful girlfriend in some high-rise apartment. But you’re here. With me. In a dusty old house with an air conditioner that needs repairing.”
He notices Juwon swallow and take a deep breath. It almost embarrasses Dongsik how anxious he is for what the man he loves is about to say. Without realizing it, Dongsik is crossing his fingers behind his back.
“Because you’re the person I love. Isn’t that obvious yet?” Juwon huffs out.

Summary
The dying streaks of sunlight make tawny patterns across Dongsik’s face and he could see freckles, so light that if he were not drinking him in with his eyes, he would have missed it.
“Pretty,” Juwon breathes out, and reaches for his cheeks. He thumbs them gently, and places a kiss underneath his eye.
He then brings his face close to Dongsik’s and licks a stripe from the bottom of his lip to the tip of his nose.
He hums in approval, “Vanilla right, hyung?”

Summary
More brutal clinking as the cutlery lands on the plates. Dongsik feels the rumble of Juwon’s laugh in his chest, slotted right against his back. How does one’s voice dips deeper when they chuckle? Dongsik has no idea but it drives him mad.
“Tch.”
“I take it that you like it.”
“I’m… not against it.” Dongsik corrects, twisting in Juwon’s embrace to glare at him - or at least to pretend to. “Isn’t it a bit old fashioned for someone that young?”

“If you were waiting for me, all this time,” Dong-sik sighs, and meets Joo-won’s eyes. And there they were again. Locked into that thousand-yard staring contest they always loved so much. It took Joo-won back to every instance in the station, the longing in those moments of elongated eye contact, the times he’d grip Dong-sik’s collar and wish he could collide with him right there.
