seungmin’s nervous, overly so. and he has every reason to be because in approximately 20 minutes he’s going to finally meet changbin in person for the first time. and he shouldn’t be nervous because this is just changbin, his closest friend that lives like two hours away that he’s only ever spoken to over the phone and via facetime. this is just his friend, someone that’s always so nice to him and makes him feel safe so it should be fine.
except changbin isn’t just seungmin’s friend in seungmin’s mind. no, seungmin had to go and have the biggest and most obvious gay crush on changbin. so while this is just a meet-up amongst friends, seungmin is nervous for another reason entirely.

After about half an hour in the store, he had found all of the things on his list and was walking to his car when he suddenly wished he had got Chan’s number. He frowned to himself and put the car into drive.

he was in a rush to get home, so he left chan rather quickly with nothing but a name and fondness creeping up on him slowly. his name was jeongin and he looked to be around chan’s age, maybe a year or two younger, but he was so sweet and kind, cheering chan up and encouraging even though they’d barely spoken three sentences to each other. maybe it was the soft lilt to his voice or the oversized sweater that barely let his fingers peak out the bottom of the sleeves that had chan swooned, or maybe it was the gentle smile or the way his eyes lit up like chan was the only person that mattered in those moments they shared- he doesn’t know. all he knows is that jeongin was somewhat of a wildcard that he didn’t know about, but he wanted to try to figure out.

well, changbin said that his life might be flipped- might be turned upside down on sunday but it wasn’t. instead, well- sunday came and went with no news, but seungmin was talking to him like everything was fine and so he was confused. monday evening, he asked for clarification. the next few moments that followed the clarification text happened in slow motion for him yet seemed to pass by too quickly.
and now, after drinking an entire bottle of wine and getting a few hours of sleep- changbin just has a few things to write down. and he knows that the chances of seungmin seeing this are slim to none, but he just wants this to be said. writing was always what he did best and it helped him cope in times where he was stressed. this is how it went:

jisung shuffles awkwardly as he pulls his phone up and looks to the projector so that he knows it’s shown on the screen. when he’s satisfied that his phone is shown, he inputs his fingerprint before quickly heading to the gallery app. he’s smug when he gets to a photo album titled ‘seungbin wedding album’ that contains four photos and three videos. there’s a commotion and seungmin suddenly stands up.
‘han jisung if you know what’s good for you, you better put your fucking phone away.’
changbin is quick to grab him and hold him still, laughing at seungmin’s outburst. jisung continues while changbin has seungmin under control.

he came in again. not like seungmin doesn’t know that he came in, of course he did. it seems like he wants to block out the world today because he orders his usual and then shoves headphones over his ears. he watches as the man pulls out a notebook and starts writing in it. his brow is creased and his pen moves across his paper furiously, leg shaking incessantly.
‘changbin.’
seungmin just about jumps out of his skin when he hears jisung’s voice in his ear. he blinks the shock away and looks at jisung like he’s just said something in another language.
‘what?’
jisung rolls his eyes and shoves an empty cup towards seungmin.
‘my friend, the one you keep staring at. his name’s changbin.’
or, seungmin is a waiter who finds jisung's sad friend a little too intriguing and wants to find a way to bring a smile to his face instead of the tears that are threatening to be shed.
