She kissed the buoys with a gentle bump and he jumped onto the quayside to tie her off. He dug out the phone and pressed it to his ear, regretting wasting Duncan's thirty precious monthly minutes. "Sorry, sorry. You were saying?"
"About my release day, aye. I've been thinking it might be best if you weren't here, after all, to pick me up."
Jimmy swapped the phone to his other ear, the landward side, because Duncan suddenly sounded muffled and far away, despite the lack of wind coming off the sea. "Come again?"
"I said, it might be better if I make my own way after they let me out."
