Summary
Upon closing and locking the door to your room, having just returned from dinner across the hall, the thing you least expect to encounter as you prepare to settle in for an early night is a man climbing in through your window. Your window that is hundreds of feet from the ground, perched in a tall tower. Even more unexpected than this, if possible, is the expression the man wears, or what little of it you can make out above the dark mask adorning the lower half of his face. He’s shocked, just as shocked as you are, somehow.
With that, a whirlwind of events begins to unfold. Why do you know his name, despite having no memory of ever meeting? Why is he so intent on convincing you to abandon your duties and run away from your kingdom, even coming back day after day to keep you company in your lonely quarters? Why won't he take his mask or gloves off, no matter how much you pester him? And why does his laugh, his mannerisms, and sometimes even just the look in his eyes awaken such a sickening, yet undeniably pleasant feeling, one that threatens to climb it's way up out of your chest to remind you both: You should know.
