Morpheus - or Dream, as he's nicknamed himself - could have been gone the moment he turned 18, like his older siblings Dee and Destiny. But that would mean abandoning his younger siblings Dessie, Desire, and Del to a deeply broken household, and he's spent far too long protecting them at his own expense to run.
Their father is abusive; their mother is one of his victims and locks herself in her bedroom. No one finds out, and Dream intends to keep it that way, because no one is coming to help any of them... until Time goes too far, Dream collapses in the middle of a uni class, and a chain of events is set in motion he cannot stop.

Or Dream and Hob love each other so much that it makes a kid and there's so much family drama and a spiral of emotions that I forgot what I was writing about for a moment before it wraps up in family forgiveness and new beginnings. There is also maybe a MAJOR FACTOR CHANGE, which changes the trajectory of Dream's fate.

“Would you like anything for dessert?”
Something warm lit up in Joe’s chest when he saw a hint of a sparkle form in Kaoru’s eyes at the mention of dessert. A sweet tooth, perhaps?
But the warmth turned ice cold as Adam spoke up.
“No, that’s alright. I’m quite full from my meal and Kaoru here certainly doesn’t need it.” Adam chuckled, looking Kaoru up and down as if proving his point.
Kaoru’s eyes narrowed shamefully as he kept his gaze anywhere but at Joe.
It took just about all of Joe’s patience to not toss Adam like a salad right then and there.
OR: Kaoru's been stuck in a terrible relationship with famous Food-Critic Adam for two years. But everything will change when the two go on a date at Sia la luce, a fancy Italian restaurant owned by Head-Chef Joe, who falls smitten from the moment they meet.

Sia La Luce has always and will always be an Italian restaurant. The fact that Kojiro has started stocking up dinosaur chicken nuggets in the freezer means absolutely nothing. They’re just for the kids. And if he’ll whip out a plate of them when he’s too tired to make anything else for lunch, that’s between him and only him. A secret he’ll take to the grave. Well, him and a few of his employees he now shares with after they caught him. They promise not to tell the kids, but he’s pretty sure they have videos or something.

It wasn’t his fault that people didn’t do what they were supposed to do. If he loaned someone money and they didn’t pay it back, it was only fair of him to go after what he was due. Arguably, his methods could be considered scary or violent or criminal but all's fair in love and war.. or rather in loans and repayment.
He didn’t get where he was by taking out loans and not paying them back; he got where he was by stealing money and killing whoever would even think of asking for it back. A real entrepreneur if he was going to be completely honest about it.
He handled his debts so it was only fair that the Sakurayashiki family handled theirs.
When Kojiro demands repayment from Sakurayashiki family for a loan that they were unable to repay he gets more than he bargained for with their pink-haired spitfire of a son.
