“Anyway, thought I’d go get it for you,” Katsuki says, and Shouto doesn’t know if he should laugh or cry. This -- this is an almost-mythical thing, the kind of thing that would have stories told about it, with fame spreading throughout the land, and instead, here is Katsuki, leaning on his arms on a grassy knoll, giving this to Shouto, a moment just for the two of them. This is the kind of story that is synonymous with victory, and here is Katsuki, choosing Shouto instead.
It’s perhaps the starkest admission Katsuki could have made. Shouto knows it, and from the way Katsuki is looking at him steadily, Katsuki knows that Shouto knows it.
“It’s your birthday,” Shouto says, almost helplessly. “Doesn’t that mean I should get you something?”

Ochako had watched his hands, had watched the way Todoroki just nodded and then reached out and caught Bakugou’s shaking hands between his own, rubbing them together and murmuring you’re cold as Bakugou had stared, slack-jawed, and she had thought, oh.
Ochako knows Bakugou Katsuki, and she knows him with Todoroki Shouto, and she looks at this not-Bakugou’s shaking hands as he snarls at his Todoroki about gruesome ways of dying, and thinks: oh.
