Summary
When agreeing to house his grand niece and nephew for the summer Stanford was apprehensive. Having two young children running around getting into all sorts of trouble, especially the supernatural kind, seemed like a bad idea.
However, Shermie asked him personally and therefore he couldn’t bring himself to refuse.
He had never been so glad to be proven wrong.
Watching these children explore the woods he loved so much ignited a spark within he thought had been lost after Bills betrayal.
Even if the ache deep within his chest never fully went away, he could confidently say that he had never been happier.
However, the peace they found themselves in began to shatter with a single question.
“Who is Stanley pines?”

Ford finds the recordings by accident.
He blinks at them, confused by their sheer number and the dates he can see in the file descriptions. Apparently these are recordings that start the day he went into the portal and end about two weeks after. There are so many, it’s kind of ridiculous and Ford immediately sets out to delete all of them because, Dear Multidimensional Gods, these recordings must be responsible for all the lagging he’s been experiencing ever since he started working on the computers. How did Stanley even work like this? Why didn’t he already delete them or put them on an external disc?
“Because Stanley doesn’t know about them,” Ford says out loud, his finger pausing over the delete button.
He suddenly remembers what this is.

Stanley told them about the years after the portal incident. There is a good reason he didn't go into detail about the immediate aftermath.Too bad Ford finds out anyway.

“And why should I-” Ford begins to say, anger building ever hotter, before somehow Stanley manages to shock Ford once again. Stan reaches behind him and pushes a kid forward from where he’d apparently been hiding just out of sight.
A kid.
A child, really.
A kid who looks a little familiar. Something about the shape of his nose. It reminds Ford of his mom, in a way. And the hair reminds him of his dad. And Stanely has this kid. That is with him. Right now. On Ford’s porch in Gravity Falls.
“Stanley,” Ford says, in a rush that screams he should’ve finished drinking his coffee before answering the door, “You have-”oOo
Ford's research is interrupted by his estranged brother showing up on his doorstep with a kid who claims to be time traveller. Meanwhile in the present, Stan and Mabel try to figure out how to get Dipper back to the right time. There will be secrets revealed, old wounds readdressed, and above it all a one-eyed demon watches with interest.
