Andrew has attracted the attention of who beings whom he was likely better off not knowing. Oletus Manor was never meant to be sentient but when a single area is as entrenched as Oletus in things such as magic, time removal and general chaos as it, things become a little more odd and, in turn, the manor, a little more sentient. Favoring Andrew was an odd choice but the way the man likes solitude and hates others is a novelty, and Oletus will do close to anything to keep him around, here and living. Anyone who is burned and decays into thousands of soul-weaved stars are just collateral, and if they get more involved then they should it won't matter in the end.
Unfortunately for Joseph, he somewhat becomes that collateral.
