Summary
Once upon a time, they were friends, until Zuko let it all burn up. Two years later they run into each other and try again.
It's different. It's not unpleasant.
By the end of the hour, he’s sitting at the foot of the couch, the bright sun lulling him into exhaustion. Around him there are 7 different plates of different brownie batches; Suki has fallen asleep but Sokka is staring right at him still. In the light of an awake sun against a cornflower sky, his skin looks more delicate, smoother, like a statue. Zuko is so full of longing it encompasses his being, makes him want to reach out just to make sure that he’s still real. He holds himself back.
“You can sleep if you want” Sokka offers quietly before moving into a more comfortable position. It takes a few minutes before there’s a comfortable rhythm to his breathing. Zuko makes sure to drape a blanket over him before slipping out the door.
He forces himself not to check if Sokka stirred awake in his absence.

At night Rayla stares up at the stars. Claudia is in the next room over snoring loud enough for her to hear. There’s a desk by her with a pile of papers threatening to fall before the sun breaks. Underneath her there are people still moving around, a city full of anger and love. Underneath her there is a city full of people who love Van Gogh, who would’ve gone to the gallery and fallen in love with the painting Claudia did.
She thinks about how once he said “the only time I feel alive is when I'm painting”.
“I’m sorry then,” she whispers to no one “because what I am feeling right now is beyond living”

The worst part is that sometimes it feels dangerously normal. It doesn’t feel as if they are in any danger, they’re just kids who put their feet on each other’s laps and copy homework answers from one another.
Elena calls him Reyes, Mack calls him Robbie and Daisy calls him ‘Rob’ or ‘Rob-o’ or any variation of it just to spite him. He flips her off at the breakfast table and she laughs, head back, hair flowing and winks in his direction. At night in the common room she steals his English homework and then proceeds to read out loud every sentence and pick it apart. She rewrites it and is halfway back to her bed when he yells out ‘I CAN’T SUBMIT AN ESSAY ON THE ORIGIN OF ROBERT AND IT’S NICKNAMES DAIS’ and she yells back ‘OF COURSE YOU FUCKING CAN. I WROTE IT AND THUS YOU KNOW COULSON WILL GIVE IT AN A’. It’s so normal when she steals all of his socks when getting ready for classes and he flicks her temple when walking by her.

Its fucking ridiculous but we made it, we actually fucking made it, we’re married and I’m crying, you’re crying, I think Alec is crying but I can’t really see because of my tears because we fucking made it oh my god we made it. We all get stupidly drunk, its one night and for one night we can pretend like there isn’t a war out there, that your father isn’t trying to kill us, we can pretend that everything is okay for one night. And then Jace gets so sappy he actually proposes to Meliorn and he says yes in such a calm way its kind of scary but then literally two minutes go by and Jace pulls out a second ring and proposes to Simon who screams ‘yes, yes, a million times yes’ and now the three of them are in the middle of the room figuring out their wedding. Which is frankly rude on their behalf because we got married less then two hours ago, now they’re planning their wedding, what kind of brotherly backstabbing is this, but its okay because its fun and a mess. And I love it.
a.k.a. that clizzy wedding thing that literally no one expected but is very gay and very cheesy and very lovey-dovey i nearly cried writing.

It starts like this: Clary and Jace sit behind Meliorn in Herbology. He ignores their laughter accompanied with whispers until Jace leans forward to poke him in the back. He asks what number twelve is on the homework and Meliorn wordlessly makes an obscene gesture at him. Professor Rollins catches him and gives him a harsh glare. Once she turns around Clary asks why he didn’t get detention and without missing a beat he says its because hes ‘the best at Herbology unlike you’. Clary scoffs, then tries to make a paper airplane. She aims it at him but she's terrible at making paper airplanes and it ends up hitting Gregory Smith who's sitting in the last row on the other side of the room. He glares at her as Jace falls out of the chair laughing, but before Gregory can say anything Professor Rollins turns around to face her class.
a.k.a. this hp au that literally not a single person asked for but exists and is here to love you. (and maybe make you cry)
