In the living room, Kuroo was sitting cross-legged on the floor, his sleeves rolled up, sorting through a shallow cardboard box labeled in thick black marker: MISC TECH.
“What does this even mean,” Kuroo said, holding up a tangled cable that looked like it belonged in a museum.
“You labeled it,” Kenma said.
“That doesn’t mean I remember doing it.”
“You were mad at the modem. You put all the extra stuff in there after the third reset.”
“Why do you remember that?”
Kuroo was still muttering on the floor, feeding cables into a drawer-shaped organizer in uneven bursts. Mochi had claimed the corner of the box lid and was biting the edge with deep concentration, ignoring every attempt at redirection.
Kenma stood at the edge of the room and just—watched.
This was the part no one ever saw. The unglamorous middle of things. Noisy drawers. Half-cooked dinners. Recycled cardboard left too long in the genkan. The rhythm of a shared life lived at a low volume.

By all accounts, it’s a terribly invasive question Kenma might not even answer if a friend asks it. Maybe he’s in a good mood today because it’s Friday, and Kuroo will be home earlier than usual. Maybe because the weather today is not too hot and not too cold. Maybe he feels like giving his fans a tiny bit of information to keep them spiraling and interested in him enough to tune in this weekend for more. He does indulge in little details about his life with Kuroo from time to time, anyways.
There’s a second delay as his screen loads, and Kenma uses this time to say quietly into his mic, “Who loves the other more? Hm. It’s obvious, isn’t it?”

The lights were too bright and the stench of antiseptic was making his head spin and if someone did not turn off that fucking beeping the next room over, Jason was going to shoot something.
Dick… Still hadn’t said anything.
Jason eyed him, waiting for the motherfucker to bring out another damn fluffy pen or an even stupider pun or something but Dick was just standing there like an idiot. Well, he wasn’t standing completely still at least, that would have been fucking unnerving.
