Summary
It’s been seven years since Will Byers vanished from Hawkins for the second time; seven years since he picked up his life, moved across the globe, and finally settled. He had found himself in a small town outside of Dublin with no desire to be anyplace else. He was happy. Ireland was great — beautiful sights, decent weather, and it was far. So, so far.
But when past feelings bubble from under the surface and start to poison his creative endeavors, he doesn’t think things could get any worse.
Seeing Mike Wheeler at his local grocery store quickly proves him wrong.

You have more in common with him than El, says the voice in Will’s head. He wonders, briefly, whether it would be weird to shove his face back into the pillow and scream.
Will is definitely not qualified to be giving out any relationship advice. For one, he's never actually dated anyone before. Second, one of the people in said relationship is his sister. And third, the other person is the guy he's sort of in love with. There's no possible way this could backfire. Right?

“Okay, well how do I do it?” Will asks, intrigued but confused.
Mike looks up at him then, eyes dark and slightly wide. “I, uh,” he coughs. “I’ll show you.”
Will watches as Mike shifts just slightly closer, angling his body towards Will.
“Do you trust me?” Mike asks, leaning his head into Will’s space even further.
Will doesn’t know what to make of the sudden spark of tension in the air, but he nods. Of course he trusts Mike. He trusts Mike with his life.
or: Mike and Will get high together on the edge of an empty motel pool.

Will gapes at him. There is no possible way Mike just said that to him. Penciling in a mental note to get his hearing checked in the distant future, he continues to look at him, at the hurt shimmering in his pupils, the slight wobble of his upper lip as he turns away.
Will has a boyfriend. Will doesn’t know he has a boyfriend. Chaos ensues.
