He thinks he’s almost a little stunted. As if Jeno leaving… put Jaemin’s existence on pause. A video game that doesn’t load an area until the player triggers it. What Jaemin planned on happening after graduation was simple. Jaemin would go to medical school after moving into the two-bedroom, but this time with Jeno in tow. Jeno would find a job after spending a week assembling his fancy gaming PC in their bedroom. And Jaemin would be a full-time student and part-time househusband who always makes sure to have food on the table for when his hardworkingboyfriend comes home from work.

The truth is that Jaemin didn’t have to steal Christmas for his heart to grow three sizes too big, it’s always hung low and heavy in his ribcage, spilling out of bone, and Jeno doesn’t know how to reconfigure his basic biology to keep up. Doesn’t know how to take this heart that is a normal size and does normal things like keep him alive and make it enough when he wants it to do so much more.
