Yuuji’s hand twitches, tearing the napkin. He laughs nervously, not knowing what to say, humiliated at the warmth in his cheeks. Even more humiliated that a yes crept up his throat. “Anyone would want to make their dad happy,” he mumbles, staring hard at his own distraction.
“What a good boy,” Sukuna murmurs.
Yuuji stays at his uncle's remote estate.

“I’ve decided that I’m not quite done with you yet, brat.” Sukuna squatted down. A hand went to either cheek and lifted his face so that he was gazing up at Sukuna. The sun had begun to peek from behind grey storm clouds, unaware of the devastation and destruction that had been brought down upon the ruined city. Sukuna eclipsed it until the golden-white rays were a perverse halo.
It was like looking at a horrifically beautiful chiaroscuro painting. Sanguineous eyes drew his focus like a splash of colour on an otherwise dark canvas. Within their depths, he found only despair.
“I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have a pet.”

“Itadori!” is the last scream Yuuji hears before there is another almighty heave of the ship.
Something sinuous, hot as blood, wraps around Yuuji’s leg, just below the hem of his shorts.

Ahead of him, the pink-haired man he’d followed home from the store sets his grocery bag on the stoop and thumbs through a ring of keys. He’s wearing his dark blue uniform, and the yellow porch light reflects off his gold-plated name tag. Captain Ryoumen Sukuna. Megumi doesn’t have to be close enough to read it to know what it says.
Megumi presses his hands against his face and breathes harshly into his palms. His heart is beating so fast his body is vibrating.
Get it together, he tells himself. Get it together and save him.
There’s a kidnapped boy in Sukuna’s attic named Yuji that has been waiting ten years for Megumi to solve his case and rescue him.

When Yuuji returns to the village, he’s apprehended by terrified, superstitious villagers who determine that making Yuuji their sacrifice will restore the favor of their God.

But when Yuuji arrives, Grandfather isn’t there. Instead he meets a creature, one larger than life and terrifyingly handsome. A dangerous smile watches hungrily as the wolf —Sukuna, as he insists Yuuji call him— says that he’s a friend of his grandfather’s and promises to take care of him. With the full moon high in the sky and a large paw on the small of his back, Sukuna brings Yuuji inside to light a fire. To warm their bodies.
And to claim his prize.
