Summary
Should he be surprised that Kise and Aomine were a thing back at Teiko? No, probably not. The game against Touou seemed too personal for a casual competition between two old friends. Yukio believed Kise when he announced he just wanted to beat Aomine—hell, he was comforted by it. There was no baggage in that admission, no quiet regret. Kise wasn’t seeking redemption for some failure, a misstep. Kise wanted to beat the best player on one of the best teams. Yukio respected that. He was inspired by it.
Yukio’s not equipped to handle this.
