Summary
Steve’s still figuring Eddie out, including the ways Eddie will wheedle and give him shit for an offhand remark or tone of voice. It’s not like Tommy, where there was always something darker looming behind his cocked brow or narrowed eyes. The wrong kind of look meant tipping the scales towards an inevitable violence.
With Eddie the wrong look will get cigarette smoke blown in Steve’s face, the wrong words will get teased, playfully flipped back in a way that makes it feel like Eddie’s gently humbling him. Like each time Steve’s face goes warm with embarrassment it’s another strike to the long-dead King Steve. It’s mostly harmless. It’s intriguing. It’s the type of game Steve wants to understand so he can play it back.
Or, a totally unoriginal post-s4 summer fix-it fic where Steve questions what he’s scared of, what he wants, and where Eddie Munson fits.
Plus—how did Eddie learn how to braid hair?

Steve’s mind is racing. Would it be possible to solve Eddie’s problem, and by extension, his own problem, without a lick of jail time for either of them?
It’s genius, he thinks. Even Dustin would be proud of him.

Summary
i.
When he turns his head to glance inside, eyes seeking for something to do without a customer to handle, Benson sees how his hair’s matted down to his forehead under the bill of his cap, sees the sparkle of sweat above his lip. Bradley doesn’t notice him looking, never does, but especially not now as he wavers in his spot in front of the register from the movement. His eyelids flutter a little, and Benson thinks too belatedly that the kid’s gonna eat tile if he doesn’t sit down.Benson looks away, back down to the table, squeezing his eyes shut hard for a second and pressing his thumb to the spot between his brows. The heat’s making his mind run too fucking slow.
ii.
He eyes Benson’s jacket one more time before turning to grab a dishrag and heading back to the counter. He passes by Benson mopping near one of the back tables and, this close, he’d know he was passing by Benson even with his eyes closed. He always smells like what Randy imagines the smoking section of a bar is like. That was the other tell, he realizes belatedly — the green coat smells like musty cigarettes. Rained-through and dredging up to surface all the stale smoke embedded in the threads.

Weeks before Benson's killing spree, Randy has a vision of the events to come. After weighing his options, he decides the best chance he has to save his coworkers is to befriend Benson.
He's the worst person for the job. He's also the only candidate who applied.

Summary
After locking up, the question bubbles out of Benson’s chest like a belch, bleach flavored. The store key’s still in the lock and for once the exhaustion in his bones has beaten out the shrieking air raid sirens that've been howling in Benson's skull since his childhood. So Benson just does, no forethought or deeper examination involved. Allows himself the mercy of not looking too closely at why he’d ever think getting Bradley liquor loose and pliable would end up well for either of them.
“You wanna go get a beer?” A pause, the store key halfway turned into the locking position. He flicks it over the rest of the way to avoid having to go back inside and rearm the security system. “You old enough to even fuckin’ drink?”

Summary
It's not late, but it's late enough that when his phone rings, Benson raises an eyebrow. People don't call him. Or, the people who do call him don't have any business calling him right now.
Benson unplugs his phone from the charger by the dresser, and squints at the screen. The scrolling letters say, Bradley (work). He sighs. Maybe he dialed by accident, meant to call someone else and hit Benson's name instead. Who is Bradley trying to call on a Friday night?
When he picks up, Bradley says, "Hi, um. Sorry for calling. I was wondering if I could ask for a favor? I'm sort of stuck, and I need a ride, and I didn't know who else to call."

Summary
Listen, normally Benson’s not one to make somebody do drugs they don’t want. But they’re only three hours into the afternoon shift with another five to go, and if Bradley doesn’t chill the fuck out Chris will never stop bothering him. And if Benson has to listen to that all day, again, he is finally going to do something stupid they’ll all regret. It’s easier just to make Bradley take the pills.

Summary
Good things don’t happen to Eddie Munson, and he’s very aware of the fact.
That’s kinda the whole foundation of who he is as a person at this point: don’t expect good things to happen. He rolls with it. He makes glitter out of the shit. He lives in his own fantasy because reality has pretty much always sucked since, likely, before he can remember.
Good things don’t happen to Eddie Munson, so he has no idea how to wrap his head around Steve Harrington’s sudden appearance in his life as an unmovable fixture.
No fucking clue.

Summary
Eddie will say goodbye to Dustin and Mike at the same time then move on to the rest. Two birds, one stone. And then he’ll be off. Easy peasy.
Except it isn’t, because when has Eddie’s life ever been easy? He drives over to the Wheeler’s place down Maple Street, parks at the curb in front of the house. Stumbles up the front steps and raps on the door a bit. Is so lost in preparing his last-minute improvised goodbye speech that he doesn’t register the fact that Mike Wheeler isn’t the one answering the door until, well—
“Eddie?” Steve asks, eyebrows furrowing.
Eddie gapes at him stupidly.
•••
Eddie is leaving. Steve is doing his damnedest to get him to stay. Also, Holly Wheeler is a fairy princess.

Summary
"What's that?" Robin points directly. The mark is red and dark, sitting low on the back of Steve's neck. Steve slaps his hand over it and turns away, his magazine abandoned on his lap. Robin continues, "Is that a bug bite? It's tick season, Steve. Seriously. Ticks can you give you lyme disease, are you feverish? If you feel lethargic-"
"No! Jesus, Robin." He's blushing now, tips of his ears bright red and averting his gaze. "It's nothing, leave it alone. It's fine." But he's keeping his hand covering it and she can't help but eye him suspiciously.
"Is that a-"
"Please stop."
"- love bite?"
(Five times Robin suspects something between Steve and Eddie, and one time she figures out she's right.)
