Summary
Dedra Meero lived a life of abuse and dismissal until she made a career for herself and found what she thought was love. The galaxy saw fit to take those away after she struggled to thrive despite the odds, but there is still the Empire, and there is honor in work, even on Narkina. To her dying day, Dedra will serve Palpatine’s cause of righteousness and order. Perhaps by then she will have learned how to forgive herself.
In other words: Dedra is plagued by her mistakes, traumatic early life, and fellow inmates while she toils for her beloved Empire… in an Imperial prison.
This is a continuation/spinoff of another drabble sequence featuring Dedra’s romance with Syril and their sad/uplifting backstories. I encourage you to read that first for context.

“Sorry,” Nigel says flatly, “for a second there I thought I stepped into an alternate universe where having sex with someone was somehow not a sex thing. Seriously, what the hell are you talking about? What is wrong with you?”
“I mean, the sex is a bonus,” Shelby clarifies. “At the moment, I’m really more into the part where I blow up my relationships with everyone who’s ever cared about me as, you know, a byproduct of the sex.”
