Maia had very little experience with the specific social mortifications of an embarrassing family— his own having simply chosen to forget he existed— and it wouldn’t have been fair to make a judgement, but there was already an undeniable tinge of the ridiculous to the entire affair.(Awkward dinners are part and parcel of the Emperor's role... but the Ceredada really are spectacularly embarrassing.)

Summary
The next day, Connor works out at the gym. He skates for over an hour. He texts Dr. Terry and Kyle that he’s good to rejoin the team once they start practicing again after the All-Star break. He tries to cram as much protein as he can into his (essentially entirely liquid) diet to keep his weight up. He pulls the sheets up on his bed, showers, throws on a load of laundry, and talks to his mom and tells her that he’s fine.
He thinks about Kevin.
And he watches the Blackhawks lose.
So basically - just a routine, typical day in Connor’s life at this point.
[Set in January / February 2024, Connor Bedard fractures his jaw, begs the team doctor to clear him to return to play, and realizes his feelings for his teammate. Sort of, but not necessarily in that order.]

Jamie's met Tyler before, seen pictures of him, knows he's an uncollared sub, but he's not prepared for the force of that in a friendly personal situation. Tyler isn't submitting, exactly, when Jamie opens the door, but there's a vulnerability to him that wasn't there at All-Star Weekend, and the v-neck he's wearing makes his bare throat stand out like a beacon.

Chucky's laying into him on the side, because Auston's really not hiding anything, even with his collar broad against his glands. Whatever, Auston thinks as he shoves an annoying elbow out of his ribs for a third time, he's no demure Omega waiting for an Alpha to take note. So that’s a thing for him, too. And then he adds, “I guess I feel you all the time now,” softly and curiously, as if it’s not one of the most intimate things Mitch has ever been told.
