Summary
Finally, Hiro had gotten Zero-Two back. However, he cannot help but feel distant from her. Even with her blood, Zero-Two had to bear the weight of being the only one of her unique species. As Hiro desires to become closer to Zero-Two, an impulsive decision in battle makes him forfeit most of his humanity. The ability he gains chances everything, from how squad 13 pilots their franxx to his and Zero-Two's relationship with the other parasites. Together, squad 13 has to learn how to deal with Hiro's new abilities and appearance along with the chances they bring. Meanwhile, APE takes further interest in Hiro and Zero-Two, willing to manipulate them for their cause. Looming over their shoulders, change awaits and all squad 13 can hope is to live through it.

Summary

Summary
The wide scale discovery of Newtypes changed the laws of war and clouded the lens of ethics. Within the Federation, the race is on to devolve new technologies and techniques to harness and recreate the abilities of Newtypes, regardless of what it takes to get there. Rather than search for individuals that displayed the level of heightened senses that the Newtypes of the One Year War did, the Federation decides the route of creating their own would be more efficient. Using Amuro Ray as a base, they attempt to bring about an Age of CyberNewtypes. The effect of the Federations human experiments are wide spread, determining the Federations course of action a every turn. By using a more aggressive and invasive manner of experimentation, they gain their results faster but at a great cost in human life and suffering. While they try to keep their more unsavory methods from the public and press, its only a mater of time before they come to light.
