Summary
"A shloka is a 32-syllable verse, broken into hemistitches— that's 16— or quarters— eight. The first one— that we know of— was written by a sage. And what did he write about?" Edward pauses, but not long enough to leave room for an answer he'd likely find inadequate. "It was about a man who took a leisurely stroll by the river, and what did he find there? A crane! What's so special about the crane, you ask? Well, I'll tell you. It's shot dead in front of him. Imagine that. A perfect verse in rhyme and rhythm, all for the death of a crane."
"What..." he continues, slowing himself down to an unsettling degree, "...Is so special, about a bird?"

Summary
Between set schedules, filming, script readings, proof-editing, dress rehearsals, and his own hang-ups about those star-studded events, Tenna rarely makes a public appearance. This time, though, there was no saying 'no' to the offer of a lifetime: an extravagant, exclusive invitation to an all-expenses-paid gathering of high-profile award winners.
Mettaton and Tenna find themselves in the same limousine, where their first meeting takes a sharp left turn as they find themselves caught dead in the middle of an assassination attempt.
Real drama! Real bloodshed! Real Pippins! Real... Feelings?! Scrap that last part.

"You better not start feeling sorry for me," Bill bristles, pointing a finger at Ford. "Save your speech about all the good humanity has to offer for someone who cares, blah, blah, blah, waterworks— Do you know how many humans I possessed before you came along? So many! All your good parts come from drugs and cotton candy, and the rest is just different volumes of agony! 'Ow, my back! Oww, my old teeth! Oh, there goes my sciatica and diabetes'! In my world, I would've deleted cancer! Missed your chance for that, buddy!"
"No, in your world, you would have externalized cancer into an autonomous creature that preyed upon people like an apex predator," Ford says simply.

Bill Cipher has to learn how to be powerless and human, dragged through the ashes of a tapestry that once depicted his godly form. Stanford Pines has to learn how to exist in this dimension again, adrift and 'purpose' completed. Stanley Pines has to learn how to resurrect a man who's been dead for thirty years.

Summary
Stanford Pines has spent ten years trying to kill Bill Cipher and return home. He's given up on the latter goal. Now, with his own home-grown science-fiction machine, he has a way to catch Ciphers foolish enough to get curious from across the dimensional universe and focus on the whole 'killing' thing. Too bad for the latest Cipher, 'killing' isn't on the table.

Summary
The confidence of mathematic calculation falls short when attempting to apply the results of lived experience through legible data. Logic falls flat in the face of the illogical. By definition, it is illogical to believe that I could be human. But...
Logic is only one perspective. It is limited. Fragmented. Through York, we determined that there is an unsolvable, illogically complex, and unexplainable equation to create a conscious life. The variables that could never be quantified.
York is an irrational variable.

Church gets sick. Don't ask how that works, he doesn't know, he's a ghost. It just happens. It's the worst thing in the world.

Summary
Church, as usual, is rapidly approaching manic burnout. This usually means he's an absolute raging dick.
Tex and Tucker propose they have a kickback to relax him.
(AKA-- I wanted to write a Chex shotgunning romp where everyone takes care of Church.)

Summary
Strange blinks at the two Spider-Men like it’s the first time he’s ever seen their faces, and says, “And the others? Where are they?”
Otto looks up at the statue, and then back down. “If I had to hypothesize, I’d say they’ll try to get out of here the moment they’ve realized your trick didn’t work.”
“It’s not a trick, you halfwit,” Strange says. “And it mostly worked. Other than these two men being Spider-Man, I have no idea who they are. So, ergo, doctor, I’d say we’re at a halfway decent C+ in terms of universe stability.”
---
Otto says nothing. He knows it's best to stay silent in the negotiation process of being handed money to be someone's pet scientist. This is no different.
"I hear no complaints," Norman says after a moment of extended silence. He'd been waiting for one of them to shoot down all this nonsense, but that moment never comes. He can't help but take the reins. "Sounds like a deal to me. Do you have a pen?"
Strange shakes his head. "This isn't a Wall Street deal. No legal contracts. The deal is this– I'll set you up to survive, and if you do anything that morally frustrates me, I pull the plug."

The Captain of Security is... Confused by his new companion, to say the least. 'The Judge.' What kind of a title is that? And why does no one seem to want to explain who the hell this person is? And why does Nick Rye seem to get antsy around them?
He's going to find out what their deal is, regardless of how tight-lipped everyone around them is.

So the joke starts like this, and it’s a really funny joke that Finn’s spent all morning workshopping, and it starts like this: two men walk into a black market and desperately try not to get recognized as war heroes while they’re shopping for ancient Jedi artifacts and--
Okay, so the joke needs some work. Their lives are just too complicated.

Summary
The Magnus Institute is in dire need of technological upgrades; introducing The Archivist, an experimental specialty AI designed to make Head Archivist Jonathan Sim's life far, far easier. All it takes is a quick implant, and the two are bound together, allowing them to see, know, and dissect the Archives. Maybe now Jon can actually create a legible filing system off the back of the late Ms. Robinson's chaos.
Martin Blackwood seems to be the only Assistant in the Archives that doesn't outright despise this new upgrade. And, well, how can he? The Archivist is nice. Creepy, sure, but-- He can't be all that bad, right?

“Maybe you’ll—“ Several inches of silicone narrowly miss slapping the side of his face. Martin corrects that with a hand holding it still. He grins up at Michael. “Maybe you’ll like it?”
Michael looks down at Martin, and his smile gets a little hazier, his eyes half-lidded and very, very pleased with the sight that greets him, indeed.
"I do, already," He says softly, and where his hand sits on Martin's head, he digs his fingers in, nails against his scalp.

Summary
The Archivist, Elias Bouchard, has quite the catalogue of World Ending entities and horrid piles of trauma to wade through. It does not help that the head of the Institute, Jonathan Sims, seems to have very specific plans for him.
I.E, the roles are reversed. The villains are the "heroes" (debatable, as with all things Elias), and the heroes "villains."
