Eddie ducks his head and Buck can only guess what expression he has behind the mask — sheepish smile? Ever present guilt?
Buck doesn’t even know what Tommy’s mask is because he’s not even wearing it properly. Maybe he’s being too harsh, though. At least he’s here, right? Buck looks around guiltily, wondering if he’s being a bad boyfriend abandoning Tommy to a corner. He spots him standing near the back, examining the jack-o-lanterns the kids had carved earlier. Maddie and Chim walk over to him, and Buck is pretty sure he hears Chim say, “Is that my beer?”
Buck should go over to him. Be the doting boyfriend. Diffuse whatever tension is sure to creep in.
He turns to Eddie, “Want a cosmopolitan?”
And Eddie has good taste, so of course he does.

Eddie’s at home when he gets the call. It’s rare that Buck’s on shift without him, but it happens. “He’s at L.A. General Medical,” Hen says over the line. Because Eddie’s not there in person to tell. If he was there in person, he wouldn’t need telling. He wasn’t next to him when it happened — whatever it is — and he wasn’t there to ride in the ambulance with him. “Okay,” Eddie says and gets in his car.

So maybe Jamie is tempting fate a little bit when he invites Keeley out for ice cream. Keeley agrees but seems to know he’s up to something. She snorts, eyes twinkling, and then does her own exaggerated lick of her double-scoop Strawberries and Marshmallow. “Want to tell me why we’re giving the paps a show?”
And Jamie’s got no good answer to that. Like, he’s got an answer. He’s not even sure it’s a bad answer. But he feels right stupid saying it out loud. Because the petty little truth is that he wants Roy’s attention.

It’s warm with three bodies in the bed. Jon and Steve are equally stiff on either side of her, which is a little absurd. Jon is quite literally her long-term boyfriend. He at least shouldn’t be acting like he’s worried about touching her.
Nancy shifts a little onto her side and they both instantly copy her, keeping the same distance between them all. Honestly. It’s a little ridiculous. Nancy tries to ignore it, wondering if they’d made a mistake inviting Steve to share the bed with them. No weirder than inviting him to share their anniversary with them, she thinks wryly.

Everyone blinks at him. Buck arrives back at the table, cheeks flushed and clipboard in hand.
“Eddie says he has a crush on you,” Ravi tattle-tales.
“Aw,” Buck says, directing the full force of his dimples Eddie’s way while the sun shines out of his eyes. He turns to everyone else, serious expression back in place and says, “Allergies. Stat.”

Neibolt is definitely haunted. Bev has been picking up on traces of energy all the way down the street but as soon as they step through the door, she is hit with a wave of it. She rocks back on her heels and stumbles into Patty, who puts a reassuring hand on her shoulder. Hardly anything knocks Bev off her feet anymore, after years of learning to keep her psychic abilities under control. Their EMF reader is going off the charts. A quick glance confirms the hackles on the back of Patty’s neck have gone up too. Whatever is here, it’s strong.
“Haunted,” Patty murmurs. Bev can feel the smugness radiating off her, but it’s well earned; she is the one who directed them to Derry, even if the evidence of paranormal activity was slim and Bev had remained sceptical.

Maybe it was all bullshit, Steve mused. Maybe Nancy had seen something inside of him that even he hadn’t recognised.
She had always been perceptive, curious -- too much for her own good.
Maybe she had seen the way his eyes didn’t know how to look at boys, staying too long, flitting away too quickly. Maybe she had seen the tick in his jaw when Tommy had said something particularly awful. Maybe it was just really fucking obvious, and everyone knew, had always known, and Steve had been kidding himself this entire time.
He had enjoyed plenty of kisses with girls, and he had never lied or forced himself to go through with it for some false purpose. Hell, he had loved Nancy, really loved her, and he didn’t think you could make that shit up.
It was just, sometimes late at night, he thought of strong hands around a camera, and wide shoulders.

“Yeah,” Eddie says and stares into his coffee, “I knew.”
“Well, as long as you knew,” Richie laughs and it’s a strangled sound, genuine but bitter, and Eddie knows Richie isn’t laughing at him. “As long as you knew that I wasn’t… too busy for you.”
As long as this was your fault and not mine.
“Yes, Richie,” Eddie meets his eyes, “I’m well aware which one of us is the asshole here.”
“That’s not what I meant,” Richie says but he looks away, so it was.

Next is Steve, Nancy decides. She has to figure out if he likes Jonathan back before she can try to set them up. Mission Are Robin and Steve Dating? is back on the table quicker than she’d expected.

Summary
Richie, of course, did not realise what was happening to him until the full moon. Sure, he knew something was going on, and that it was weird and if he thought about it for too long, scary, but he had ignored it. Richie had gotten good at pushing back things he didn’t want to acknowledge that summer, and his friends were an endless source of distractions. It was easy not to notice until he had no choice.
At least, he figured, he had realised before he did something noticeable, say like, if he had hulked out in the middle of town, howled at the moon and ran through the streets. Richie didn’t think even he could explain himself out of that one.

Derek comes out and stands next to him, and they stay like that for a while, breathing in the chilly air and looking out at the campus.
For once, the quiet is comfortable, something silence has never been to Will or Derek, too much history of things left unsaid. Maybe this is what love means, Will thinks, being content with all of the moments in between.
He thinks of Derek’s poem, of them paving a future together. If it’s one full of silences like this one, Will knows they’ll be just fine.

Something in Nursey’s voice catches, forcing Dex to look up at him again. He could kiss him right now. He could say, ‘yes, just me’ or ‘I love you’ or ‘I spent so long trying to figure you out and now that I have, I’m never letting go’, and then he could kiss him and it would be like the end of a movie.
Except that it wouldn’t. Because this is Dex and Nursey. They can be friends, or they can be lovers. And the second option will always end the same.
So while Dex longs to lean up and kiss Nursey for the whole world to see, and God, is he tempted, he refrains.
He will always choose the option that doesn’t end with Nursey hating him.
