I had been incredibly skeptical when Ratthi had sent me ‘Midnight Eclipse.’ I knew what fanfiction was, I had seen it in the more niche entertainment feeds before. Never specifically for Sanctuary Moon, but I'd assumed it existed. That didn't mean I had any actual interest in it, though. When I had first looked at them, I hadn't liked them. The quality varied too much and a lot of them weren't finished, or were really short, or really out of character. And I hated that. I really really hated that.
This one was different.

ART couldn’t understand how someone could dislike their function - how I could. Once, I had a similar clarity of understanding with my function, then I hacked my governor module and left the company for good, and I had lost it all. It was better, now, in a lot of ways. I saw a post on tumblr suggesting a crossover where Murderbot meets Sam Vimes, and I couldn't not write it. Behold:
Murderbot, randomly pulled into the metropolis of Ankh-Morpork, must figure out how it got here, how to get home, and what the fuck is going on in general. Meanwhile, Sam Vimes of the city guard is hot on the trail of a suspicious-looking case at Unseen University—or at least he would be if he didn't have the baby at home to worry about...
I love TMB and Discworld so much, so I tried to make this as newbie-friendly as possible. If you're coming for the Discworld, the Murderbot stuff is supposed to be as understandable as possible, and if you don't know Discworld at all but love Murderbot, hopefully it still makes sense.
This is set after Exit Strategy but vaguely before Fugitive Telemetry; on the Discworld side, it's somewhere in between Night Watch and Going Postal.
