Summary
Therion’s last line of defense—it’s going to be torn down with pointed questions and observations. He is terrified.
Cyrus takes a deep, steadying breath. He doesn’t want to mess this up. There is something he can say that will make Therion lock his feelings away again and he knows that.
“There’s a divide between us, I feel like,” the scholar says finally. “And I—I'm sorry I didn’t say anything sooner. I didn’t want to pry, but I fear my caution led me in the wrong direction. I didn’t even realize how far it feels you’ve drifted from me until I… until I woke to find you gone, and I panicked.”
Guilt twists in Therion’s gut, sharper and more unforgiving than any knife could be. He wants to apologize. He wants to finally let himself break and dump out all the horrible feelings he’s been bottling up.
That isn’t what happens.

Summary
This is just a really self-indulgent fanfic about pre-game Therion and Darius being thieves, roaming the land, and "no-homoing" each other while they have passionate and rough sex. There will probably be some questionable content later on so don't say I didn't warn you. I just want to write a tragic anti-romance about a repressed bisexual guy with a power kink fucking his lonely and depressed gay friend. This fic functions as backstory to Therion, and fleshes out his and Darius' relationship.
I also write really pretentiously because I'm still bitter that my 11th grade English teacher hated me. I don't know what else to say.
Disclaimer for homophobia and usage of the F-slur as well as allusions to trauma.

Therion is gravely injured after an encounter with a rather large and rather HOSTILE viper who very nearly seperates Cyrus from his life. Therion's recovery is slow, the days go by, his friends and companions worry even as Alfyn and Ophelia work to heal Therion of his wounds. In the midst of it, Cyrus reflects and comes to some realizations about himself, and about his thieving friend who may be just a bit more than that to him.

Alfyn blinked, then laughed. “Well, I thought it was obvious.”
“What is?”
Suddenly, Therion was closer to Alfyn than he had initially thought and one of Alfyn’s hands had traveled down to his waist. His steps slowed, no longer keeping time with the music or with everyone else, but he looked like he hardly cared.
Alfyn’s face glittered with sweat and there was a flush to his cheeks. “Come on, don’t make me spell it out for you,” he said, embarrassed.
