Mobius shakes his head, mouth curling around a wry smile.
“Yeah. Not buying it.”
“I’ll give you better words, then,” Loki says simply, like his suggestion is a very good one and he can’t fathom why Mobius would ever refuse him.
Ducking his head a fraction, Mobius reins in his amusement.
“How about this?” hands folded on the table, he watches Loki intently. “If you tell me why, I’ll answer.”
A soured expression clouds Loki’s face, lips pinched tight. He jumps off the table.
“Nice try. But I’m not in the mood to play patient and therapist.”
Leaning back in his seat, Mobius twiddles with his pen merrily.
“Ah, well. It was worth a shot. Maybe next time.”
Oh yeah. Loki is definitely up to something.

Charles managed to bear three nights of constant wails from the apartment next door before he finally caved and knocked sharply on the door of his new neighbour. He was rewarded with the sight of the sleepy man framed in soft light of the doorway, his handsome face creased with tiredness, and his clothes rumpled and askew. A babe of four months or so was cradled against his chest, matching her cries to the dulcet tones of another infant behind them in the apartment.
Plastering his most winning smile on his face, Charles tried to keep the balance between reassuring and forceful. "Erik, get Pietro and sit down with both of the children on your sofa. I'll make up two bottles and we'll feed them together, and then you need to get some sleep."
His neighbour didn't move, blocking the doorway and scowling suspiciously. "Who the fuck are you?" he hissed.

Confident.” His muscle mass was not as bulky as it used to be -- his abs and biceps just a shadow of what they once were. He had a soft little belly now. And then there were the scars. Dark pink floral patterns of scars all wound over his back, sides, and abdomen.
Suddenly the thought of shirtless summer weather struck dread in his heart. For now, long-sleeved henleys and sweatshirts provided the perfect way for him to hide. It was literally the only time he’d been thankful for winter.
“Hey,” Harrington said from across the table. He paused until Billy looked up to his eyes. His tone grew delicate and serious. “I’m not fucking around, okay? You. Look. Good.”
And the way that Harrington looked at him -- brown eyes soft, his gaze lingering on Billy’s face. On his eyes. Well, maybe he meant it.
“Yeah?” Billy asked. He felt his face heating. “You think so?”
Harrington took the last bite of his lasagna. “Definitely.”
