Summary
Charles felt a cold fury rise within him. "Maybe if your father hadn't been so focused on pushing you to the breaking point," he countered, his voice low and dangerous, "you wouldn't be so desperate to prove something, Max."
"Desperate? I'm a three-time world champion! You think I'm desperate?" He jabbed a finger at his chest, his voice rising. "Maybe if your old man were some goddamn like mine, you wouldn't be stuck in my shadow!"
"But guess what?" Max continued, his voice laced with a bitter triumph. “Only one of them is here to prove that, and it’s not yours, is it, Charles?”
Or:
Childhood clashes echo in the air as Max and Charles teeter on a rusty seesaw of unspoken affections, their once bitter rivalry has morphed into a bond as complex and uneven as the seesaw itself.
Max yearned for a love that seems perpetually out of reach. Charles, burdened by their complicated history, struggled to accept himself.
The space between them crackles with a mix of desire and hesitation, leaving them in a constant dance of one step forward, two steps back. Can they overcome their past and find balance in their story, or will their connection forever teeter on resentment?
