Summary
Eddie can feel his heartbeat in his hand. Throbbing, sticky, hot. It smarts like a bitch, but he isn’t one so he doesn’t mention it. He just braces his face and turns, without thinking, really, just on instinct, and throws his good arm around Richie. And, like that’s normal, like that’s just an everyday occurrence, Richie drops his chin to Eddie’s shoulder and pats his back once, twice, clutching him close. Eddie feels like his heart is leaking out of the wound in his hand, bursting out from the hollow of his chest cavity. Can Richie feel it, pushed up against his ribcage? Does he know that’s Eddie’s heart dripping out onto their sneakers?
Richie and Eddie walk home together after the blood pact. -

C’mon, Steve,” Jonathan says, holding the door open.
Wow, that’s so kind! What a gentleman Big Byers is, once he’s almost beaten you to death!
He voices that thought, while getting out. Jonathan grimaces, but ultimately decides not to comment. Wise choice, Steve nods to himself.
They stumble to the front door, Steve’s arm slung over Jonathan’s shoulder. His vision is swimming slightly. He’d like to throw up.
OR:
Steve and Jonathan fight until one of them backs down. That’s how it always is. Why should today be any different?

Summary
He looks scared. More scared than Eddie’s ever seen him before. He looks nervous, too, and Eddie didn’t think it was even possible for Richie Tozier to get nervous.
But there he is. Looking like he's going to shit his pants or throw up all over himself. Eddie would be more worried about that if he still thought Richie was drunk.
He watches as Richie twists his fingers together in front of him, picking at his cuticles and nails, curling and uncurling them into his palms, leaving little half-moon crescents each time he does.
Eddie stifles the urge to reach over and still Richie’s hands. He thinks the touch might spook him.
“Eddie, I’m…” and Richie stops there. He looks pained. His lips are still parted, like he wants to finish his sentence but the words are stuck. Like they're lodged in the back of his throat and he can’t get them out no matter how hard he tries.
Before Eddie can reassure him that it’s okay to take his time, that he’ll still be here listening, Richie moves so suddenly he’s nothing but a blur.
