Slowly, she knelt in front of him, her slender hand curling around his chin and lifting it up. “You know so little of the world, young one, and yet you let hurt and misunderstandings burn you with such terrifying vitriol. Let this curse be your teacher; should the day you find forgiveness and understanding in your heart again and you rectify what you have broken with your own hands be the day you are allowed back into society. Until then, your monstrous actions will carve a new vessel for you to wander through the wilderness with.”

The sentence barely registers in Mydei’s mind as he stares at the shadow of the man who was once Phainon, who sits completely still in a chair, dull eyes staring sightlessly ahead.
“Damage to mind function detected… Possibly irreversible…”
The Antikytheran-like man continues reading through the digitized logs impartially, as if merely reciting a speech. But every single word he says drives another stake into Mydei’s heart.
Mydeimos the Undying scarcely bowed his head, rarely lowered himself onto his knees, and never, ever begged. And yet he finds himself doing all three things now, before the broken shell of Phainon, who is very much alive, and yet lacking all of the life that made him him.

Irontomb’s birth is prevented, and Amphoreus is saved. But it’s at great cost to Phainon, whose psyche finally crumbled under the devastating damage to his mind, body, and heart.

Mydeimos makes a small noise, a mix between a trill and a growl. Impatient bastard. He doesn’t dare show his face for a week straight, but the moment his meal time is delayed ever so slightly he races over in an instant. Alright, maybe that’s a slight exaggeration. The situation is a little annoying though, a fact he comes to realise as his shock slowly subsides. Phainon adjusts his grip on the bucket, shifting to the handle as he makes to toss the fish like usual. The merman repeats that strange little noise.
“It’s okay, I’m getting it now,” Phainon states, not quite understanding the source of the merman’s disapproval, “Just give me a second.”
He is not, in fact, given a second.

After the previous caretaker resigns, marine biologist Phainon is tasked with caring for Amphoreus Aquarium’s merfolk exhibit. The merfolk in question, Mydei and Tribbie, are less than cooperative. But as their time together grows, so too do their bonds.

Pure Vanilla Cookie, after awakening has planned to head back from beast yeast. Through a series of events somehow ends up in the past. He is also in the spire being nursed back to health by an uncorrupted Shadow Milk. Can he ever head back? Will anyone find out his true origins?

“Phainon, what are you doing here? It’s the middle of the night.” Phainon took a deep, shaky breath as he stared Castorice directly in the eyes. This was crazy. Everything about this was crazy, but if there was anyone who’d believe him unconditionally, it was Castorice.
“My new house is haunted by a ghost.” Castorice, for her part, scarcely blinked as she grabbed Phainon’s arm and yanked him inside the apartment. She stood there uncertainly, eyeing Phainon for a moment before finally rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
“Hello to you too, Phainon,” she replied.
“My new house is haunted by a ghost. Didn’t you hear me?” Phainon laughed, shrill like a panicked kettle.
“I heard you,” Castorice said. “I thought there was an odd energy there, but I didn’t want to say anything and disturb you any more than you already were. Would you like a cup of tea?”

Summary
After a rescue attempt in a high-tech Fatui base goes wrong, Diluc is killed for the sake of an experiment and Kaeya is helpless to stop it. Weeks later Kaeya investigates what the Fatui had been studying at the facility and the identity of the scientist that killed Diluc. He eventually discovers that they were working on something called 'Project Lazarus' and is able to glean the location of their main facility.
When Kaeya infiltrates the facility to gather intel, he discovers that Diluc alive and being contained there. It quickly becomes clear that something is not right with his brother however. The most concerning aspect of which is that he has lost his memory entirely. Determined to make everything right, Kaeya manages to leave with him and the evidence he'd collected from the facility, bringing them back to Mondstadt.
There he is forced to rebuild his relationship with Diluc from the ground up, all the while continuing his investigation of Project Lazarus with the intent of taking it down once and for all...[On hiatus but not abandoned- 10/25]
