Summary
Shepard and the Normandy Crew are tasked with safely transporting a very rich human back to the Citadel. When he hits on Shepard, she lies about having a boyfriend to avoid offending him and failing her mission. The Normandy Crew isn't at all surprised that she picked Garrus for this fake relationship. In fact, no one on the ship is convinced it's fake, except Garrus and Shepard themselves.
Cue these two idiots trying to convince everyone that this is definitely fake and not at all real, and that warm, lovey feeling in their chests? Fake, too.

It’s the strangest thing; when the man in the cell beside her calls out to her, it’s that little beast that she sees in her mind, just for a moment. His voice is soft, low and singsong, but there’s something to it that reminds her of the flash of sharp teeth. A bloody snarl, a warning growl. There and gone again in an instant, quick as smoke.
Gone is the loose, slurring drawl that he’d mumbled at the deputies when they’d first hauled him in not more than a few hours earlier. Not long enough for that level of drink to have faded, certainly not enough to explain the shockingly clear and sober way that he calls out her name, dragging it out on his tongue.
