Summary
Firefly rose to her feet and moved cautiously toward the rock, searching for the mysterious item she had come to find. But instead of the item, she was met by a hauntingly beautiful song drifting through the air. She paused, scanning her surroundings for the source of the sweet voice, and soon spotted it—a figure, singing by the water’s edge.
Not wanting to interrupt, Firefly ducked behind a boulder, sneaking glances to catch a glimpse of the singer. Moments passed, her heart pounding as she watched. Then, suddenly, the girl leapt into the water. Firefly rushed to the shore, peering into the rippling depths, but the girl was gone—vanished as if she’d never been there.
Had she imagined it? A chill ran down her spine. It couldn’t have been a mermaid... or could it?
