Summary

He can still hear Morgan’s voice in his head, though, derisive— “We’re all here for you, kid”— and even though he knows it was meant as a joke, he feels his face burn with latent embarrassment at the memory of the whistle around his neck.
__Set in early s1. Reid’s attempt to pass his firearms certification with a hostile instructor goes sideways, and he’s not sure who to turn to in the aftermath.

Olivia never wakes screaming. It’s something she’s grateful for, with Noah just across the hall, but she has to wonder if some of it is psychosomatic, as well. She couldn’t scream, back then. “You… don’t like it when I touch your mouth?” It comes out slowly, both like a question and like a statement, and Steve is shaking his head violently before Eddie has even finished speaking, because if they go down this road, if Eddie pulls and unravels and sees him– the frayed, jagged edges of him– he’ll leave. Steve is sure of it.
“No! That’s not it. That’s totally not– I can be into it. I promise.” Steve can feel twin flames of disgust and shame coil in the pit of his stomach, at the fact that he’s practically begging Eddie to do this to him, to make him like it, the fact that he wants.

or: Billy and Steve had… something. Steve’s not quite sure what it was, doesn’t know if he ever really agreed to it. And then the Mind Flayer happened and Billy died and Steve got beat up by Russians and the mall burned down. And Eddie showed up, all flashing smiles and sure hands, and Steve can’t take his eyes off of him. There’s just that pesky, niggling possibility that maybe everything with Billy fucked him up more than he’s ever willing to admit.
