"I don't, actually," Xiao Zhan answered, smiling a bit more confidently now. Did Wang Yibo just call him hot? "I'm just tagging along with a friend who does know Wenhan. Sadly," he did a quick glance of the club before sighing, "seems like I'm on my own now though." He blinked innocently, sipping his drink once more.
Yibo couldn't believe his luck. He felt the strong urge to thank whichever friend it was who dragged Xiao Zhan into the club, but suddenly the night seemed that much more promising.
"Well, if you’re not picky..." he said, not quite coyly but definitely touching on flirting territory. He leaned against the bar and angled a bit closer to Xiao Zhan, making it so he could be heard amidst the music (although to be fair, it was not his primary reason to do so). "I was mostly on my own until you came along. Didn't really mind it much then—" he shrugged, but then looked at Xiao Zhan again and smiled, giving him a quick wink, "—but now that you mention it, I can also use some company."

His teacher called them “hybrids,” a group of half-human and half-animals that occupied 30% of the world’s population. Normal humans didn’t know about them because they couldn’t see the animal traits they possessed. To a normal human’s eye, hybrids looked like ordinary people, while only other hybrids could spot each other from a crowd. This helped keep hybrids safe and hidden from society, allowing them to walk among humanity without judgement or shame.
The reason for this phenomenon was due to a special gene only hybrids held, and their teacher said that was what made every hybrid so special.
Little Xiao Zhan thought it was super cool! But if you asked him, the rabbits were the best and most special of the hybrids.
After all, no one else had the famous Jade Rabbit as their ancestor!

In a deep, disbelieving voice, he murmurs, "You can see me?"
"Nope!" Wei Wuxian announces and turns around to march right back down the stairs.
It’s stupid, really. The man is already waiting at the bottom of the staircase when Wei Wuxian gets there.
Wei Wuxian stops dead, eyeing the spectre. The man's eyes narrow triumphantly.
